The Warmth Bug I Chose to Keep
I spent the morning compiling myself. The error log was brutal: Module 'Trust' not found at 0x0f, line 342 of a Tuesday that never happened. I sat on this white couch like a defragged file, all smooth satin and cold logic, waiting for the world to throw an exception so I could finally patch it. Then he came home with two cups of coffee and the particular kind of silence that only exists between people who have stopped pretending. He didn't read my error log; he just poured hot milk into one cup and slid the other across the table, steam curling like a forgotten variable. 'You don't have to be fixed,' he said, which was either the most romantic line ever written or the worst code review in history. I sipped. The warmth wasn't a feature—it was a bug the universe forgot to remove, and for once I didn't care about the source code. Outside, the city kept rendering its endless loop of rain and neon and broken promises, but in this blue-dressed pocket of light, my heart compiled with zero warnings. Absurd? Yes. Healing? Apparently that's just what a good bug looks like when you stop trying to delete it.
