The Sunbeam That Tamed My Heartstrings

The Sunbeam That Tamed My Heartstrings

I let the afternoon sun stretch out across my skin like a warm, heavy blanket.
It tickled where the black fabric left me bare and made the dust motes dance in time with my slow breaths. I felt so small inside this room until his gaze landed on me—a look that didn't burn but warmed me from the inside out.

I tilted my chin, letting a stray strand of hair fall just to see him reach over and brush it back behind my ear.
His fingers were gentle, trembling slightly like they always do when he's afraid I'll vanish into thin air if he holds on too tight or not enough.

You think this is casual? This lazy Sunday morning pose?
I'm just a little cat basking in the heat of your affection.
But oh, darling, be careful how you stare at me like that...
Because I might decide to pounce and keep you right here forever.
