The Incense of Submission
The candle flame flickers, a dying pulse in the suffocating silence of his penthouse. I lean forward, the silk of my robe sliding against skin that has grown cold under the weight of his empire. He is there, just beyond the shadow, watching me with eyes that calculate every breath I take.
The smoke from the incense curls like a serpent around my face—bitter, sweet, and entirely intoxicating. It is the only thing that feels real in this curated cage of glass and steel. My fingers tremble as they grip the wooden wand; it is my only weapon, a fragile reed against his overwhelming gravity. He wants to break me, to mold my spirit into something useful for his design, but he fails to see the fire I hide beneath this porcelain exterior.
I let out a soft sigh, my gaze locking onto his. It is an invitation and a threat. In this game of urban power-play, warmth is not a comfort—it is a lure. I offer him my presence as a sanctuary, knowing full well that once he steps into my light, he will never be able to leave. Healing isn't about fixing what is broken; it's about teaching someone how to love their scars in the dark.
