The Gilded Edge of Twilight

The Gilded Edge of Twilight

They think the sunset is a romantic cliché, but I know better. It's just nature showing off its most expensive jewelry collection before turning off the lights.

I turned back to look at him over my shoulder because it felt like good theater. The silk of this dress clings to me not out of desperation, but because gravity is a suggestion I’m currently choosing to ignore. We walked here in silence for twenty minutes; that's the new intimacy. No grand declarations needed.

The ocean churns behind him, messy and chaotic like every other relationship we've been too tired to fix lately. But right now? With the golden hour bleaching everything into soft focus? I’m not here to be saved or understood. I'm just here because this light is flattering as hell and so are my heels.
