Three years ago, maybe it was more obvious, didn't it? The way the light caught in the wine glasses, the easy turn of a shoulder when the conversation lagged… Now, it’s almost muted. Like a faded photograph, which, well, most things are nowadays.
This dress feels comfortable enough, doesn’t it? Not too precious, not too worn. Just… here. The linen has softened over time, like us, hasn’t it? Though sometimes itches to be sure, this life. This one we’ve settled into, mostly without him. Or, hadn’t until tonight, really.
