Sunlight through the leaves, coffee steaming – could this life get any better? Feeling cozy and contented today in my favorite oversized knit and a little bit of golden hour magic ✨️ So grateful for t...
Here’s the Monologue:
“Right then.” That’s probably what you were thinking, wasn't it? A little hesitant. Always had been. Not wrong, not exactly - more… well, cautious. Like standing too close to a fire for years without quite admitting you liked the warmth. It feels like ages since we last truly did, doesn’t it? Just over twenty minutes, really. The cat was particularly insistent on being fed tonight, which meant hauling yourself away from the book, the comforting weight of those worn pages, and all the quiet contentment there.
These boots, for instance. Dark brown leather, obviously inherited. Grandfather loved these boots. He always said they needed breaking in, though they never seemed to need much doing. Comfortable enough, aren’t they? So different from the silk robe you used to drape around yourselves – less fuss, certainly. Less expectation.
We didn’t say anything dramatic, of course. Nothing ever does. Just a slight turn of the head, a shift of weight towards each other, a comfortable distance maintained for so long it almost felt natural. But then the clock ticked, didn’t it? Every tick a silent question. Were we happy here? Or were we simply...used to be?
That flicker in your eyes when the light caught your hair. Remember that? Now it’s mostly dust motes dancing in the evening sun. We’ve got coffee brewing, haven’ed we? Bit strong, maybe. And look, you're staring at my hand, curled up near the mug. Nervous about that. Maybe.
It's funny, isn't it? How familiar everything still feels. Even the smallness of the room, the way the light catches the silver threads in your hair. You think we should have said something earlier, don’t you? To ourselves, even.
Now, do you?”
Let us know what you think! Do you like the mood? Would you like us to give it a go with another photo? 😊
