Okay, let’s do this! Here’s our monologue – let us know what you think!

The wool here’s a good thing, isn’t it? Heavy, comforting against the chill - though not quite enough today, perhaps. Feels like it should, anyway. This scarf has seen battles, ours and others’. A little frayed around the edges, doesn’t look back too much. Unlike him, really.

There was a laugh, didn’t there? Just then, maybe five minutes ago. Before the rain, before the quiet settled so thick it almost felt…expected. He wasn't saying anything particularly brilliant, nothing dramatic, just that familiar turn of the mouth when he remembers something fond about being here, which, most often, is true. It always was.

And for those few moments, the dust motes dancing in the afternoon light seemed to hold their breath, hadn’t they? Like we were poised on the edge of everything. And then... well, then came the slight hesitation in his step, the way he shifted his weight when he thought no one noticed. Nothing overt, of course. Not yet.

But you see it, don’t you? The question hanging in the air, lighter than a feather but heavier than expectation. You’ve been doing that for years, haven’ed, hasn’t? Watching. Often silently. Sometimes with a camera eye, sometimes simply tilting your head and letting us be.

Now, you’re staring. That slightly bemused gaze, like you find all this interesting, but aren’t entirely sure why. As if you expect us to explain ourselves, naturally. It's a bit messy, these memories, a bit noisy sometimes. But mostly lovely. Wasn't it? Almost.

So go ahead, take another glance. We’re not afraid. Probably. Are you?"
