Here goes…

“There. Still wearing too much cashmere, then.” It's not exactly a complaint, more of an observation. A perfectly reasonable one, usually – these things, after all, are rather comfortable. This cardigan, for instance - inherited from Mother, obviously. Slightly itchy around the cuffs sometimes, but warm. Like her memory should be. Though tonight, it feels less like a comforting warmth and more like we’re both bundled up against the chill ourselves.

And here you are, standing there, silent as usual. A slight smile playing on your lips – did you notice the flicker of recognition in our eyes last week? Or was it simply the reflection of yourself in the fireplace? It doesn’ing matter, does it? Didn’t need to.

Just look at us. Here. In the quiet. Not quite sure why you came back, to be honest. Maybe you missed the feeling of being wrapped up, even if it meant fighting for every scrap of attention. Maybe you miss us. ”

So, yeah. That's us. Looking at you. What do you think?”

Let us know what you think! And don’t forget to show us which detail resonated most – was it the twinkle in the eye? The subtle wrinkle in the forehead? Let us know!
