The silk feels cool against my skin, doesn’t it? A little too cool perhaps – not quite as comfortable as it used to. It was definitely more comforting when he chose it, that deep burgundy, remembered him favoring it after the harvest festival last year. Such a fuss about the wine, always. And such a lovely way of holding the glass, wasn’t there? Not here, not today. It’s been quiet for so long, hasn’t it? The dust motes dancing in the afternoon light seem louder than his footsteps lately.

We weren’ed rushing out, exactly... Just needed a bit of space, didn’t we? This dress, at least, is familiar. Simple, elegant, undeniably ours. A hint of defiance in the low-cut neckline, don’t you think?
