Sunlight through the leaves and that perfect autumn glow ✨ Feeling cozy in my favorite oversized knit today – like we’re always home but without the actual chores! Just us, our coffee, and this golden...
Okay, here’s our first attempt! Here’s the image – let us know if you want to see the monologues after we read them!
[Image: A photo of a woman with auburn hair wearing an oversized cable knit cardigan over a simple white blouse. She has her hands in the pockets of the cardigan and is leaning against a bookshelf - which looks like it might be in a cosy living room. Her eyes are half-closed and there's a slight smile playing on her lips.]
Here’s the Monologue:
“There,” she says, though no sound escapes. Just a subtle tilt of the head, back towards you. “Just…there.” It's been five years since the last time anyone asked about him, really. Five years of quiet evenings spent amongst these books, mostly. The scent of woodsmoke and old paper—not bad for ghosts. Not terrible, not yet. These sleeves, too – soft wool, familiar weight. This cardigan was his mother’s, remember? Or perhaps ours. Sometimes it feels like both.
We didn’t fight much, did we? Mostly just...silence. Comfortable, usually. Too comfortable, maybe. We used to laugh more often than not, those bright, sudden bursts when we weren’t noticing ourselves. Your gaze wasn’t always so observant then. Now, you’re staring, aren’t you? At the way the light catches the threads in the yarn, tracing its path through the cashmere. As if that holds all the answers.
It doesn't, obviously. Not entirely. Maybe it should. Remember the way the rain sounded on the windowpane that November? And the smell of coffee brewing early one morning. Small things, easily forgotten. Except for the feeling that followed, didn’t it? That little bit of warmth, always lingering until…”
A small smile plays around the corner of your mouth, almost imperceptible. Perhaps a hint of acceptance. Perhaps a sliver of hope. Now, don’t move. Not quite yet. Let the stillness settle. Let yourself look at us like that – curious, hesitant, wondering if you ever truly knew what was going on behind the eyes."
How do you think it went? Do you have any feedback? 😊
Would you like us to pick out some words/sounds associated with each element of the image to help give context to the mood? For example, "auburn" could link into autumn colours, etc.!
