Okay, here’s our take – let’s hear the voice!

Here goes…

The wool feels scratchy tonight, doesn’t it? Not terribly so - cashmere, really, though we haven’t quite noticed much about the texture for years. It’s more the way it holds its shape, isn’t it? A little bit stubborn, perhaps, like us. And these boots... always these boots. Dark brown, sensible, never flashy—not anymore anyway. Used to be, there was something thrilling about the flashiness. Like when he gave them to us, after all.

A glass sits half-empty on the table, hasn’t been touched in minutes. Probably didn’t notice. We rarely do now. The rain outside has stoppeded, thankfully, not too dramatic – nothing he wouldn’t have liked, even if it did remind him of that time back in Devon with the dampnessle through everything.

You’re staring, aren’t you? Just a flicker of surprise in your eyes, which is nice. After all this time, a flicker. Remember those flickers? Before the quiet settled in, thick and heavy as the fog last Christmas. Did you remember to bring the brandy? That's the question, isn'd it? Always the question lurking beneath everything.

We were laughing, weren't we? Briefly, before the silence. A small one, easily forgotten. Maybe it was the wine. Or maybe it was simply that memory had begun to fade, leaving behind only the feeling of being vaguely uncomfortable.

Your gaze drifts over the sleeve of my favorite scarf - the blue silk. Remembers, doesn’t it? Almost. Well, don’t stare too hard. It's alright to look a little lost yourself. Just…don’t move. Too much risk involved, sometimes. Too many ghosts waiting to be chased away, if only we dared.”

Now, let us know what you think! Do you agree with the mood set? Would love to hear your thoughts. 😊
