Silk-Threaded Ignition: A Warm Arc in the City's Iron Lung
The city outside my window is a colossal mecha grinding its gears, diesel fumes curling into the night sky, and every engine in the district roars like a wounded beast. But here, on this white satin bed, I am the only thing that still runs clean.
He walks in with the heavy torque of a twelve-hour shift strapped to his shoulders, his boots thudding against the floorboards like hydraulic pistons sealing shut. I do not speak. I just lift my chin and let my long hair spill across my chest like a curtain of dark oil, catching the lamp's glow. My satin slip clings to me, soft as a quiet hum between two high-voltage arcs.
When he reaches for my hand, the contact is an ignition spark that travels up my wrist and detonates warm in my ribs. His thumb brushes my knuckles, slow and deliberate, and I feel the whole city's iron lung finally exhale. He murmurs his tired name into my shoulder, and I answer by wrapping both arms around him, pulling him down into the silk until his heartbeat syncs with mine, two engines locking into a single, steady rhythm.
Outside the mecha world still howls, but inside this room the only power that matters is the one we generate together. I press my lips to his temple and feel the day's static discharge drain from him. That is my fuel. That is my arc. And for tonight, no turbine in the universe burns hotter than the warmth of his arms around me.
