Shadows Blooming in the Sunlight Gap

Shadows Blooming in the Sunlight Gap

The city feels like a concrete jungle today, suffocating and grey until I step into this sudden shaft of golden light. It warms my skin just as your touch did last night, waking me from the winter slumber where everything felt cold and dormant.

I wear black to match the shadows that still cling to us after our late nights talking by the window. But here, in the dust motes dancing around like pollen on a warm breeze, I feel myself blooming again. The tight dress hugs me close, reminding me of how your arms fit perfectly against my waist when we were hidden away from the world.

This light is dangerous; it strips everything bare and makes secrets impossible to hide in the dark corners. Yet as I look up into its blinding brilliance, waiting for you to find me here like a gardener finding his first spring flower, I realize that maybe being seen isn't so scary after all.
