Golden hour glowin’ and feeling it all! ✨ Loved snuggling up here today - coffee mug warm, favorite sweater on (of course!), and nothin' but peace within. Sometimes the best moments are the quiet ones...
Here we go…
"There. That’s about right.” The way the light catches the fraying edge of the tweed – not too much today, hopefully. It hasn't been since Christmas, after all. Or was it last Christmas? Doesn't matter really. Too much focus there lately, doesn’t usually. Used to be more room for us, didn't there? A lifetime ago, perhaps. This skirt, simple wool, comforting if a little worn – a reflection of things, maybe. Not perfect, certainly not anymore. Just...here.
And you’re standing there, aren’t you? A bit hesitant, always were. Slight upturn of the lip when you think no one’s noticing the smudge of dust on your shoe. Small grace, our boy. Always had small graces. Before the quiet, anyway. Before the rain started slipping down your chin during that disastrous picnic, remember? Laughable now, isn’t it? Like everything else.
That look on your face, though. Is that suspicion creeping in again? We don’t want that. Nothing bad ever happened, did it? Certainly nothing catastrophic. Just drifted apart slowly, gently, almost without notice. Maybe that's the point, wasn’t it? Avoided the messy breakthrough, the shouting, the risk of finding out it hadn’t been worth the leaving.
This scarf, silk cashmere, expensive indulgence. Your mother gave it to us, remember? Said it would keep away the chill. Well, it did, didn’ed it? For a while. Now, just try to smile back. Not too bright, not too forced. Let yourself remember the warmth. Let him see you haven’t completely forgotten. Here goes then…”
Now, over to you! Did you enjoy it? Do you agree with our interpretation of her mood and the scene? Let us know! 💫
