Golden hour glowin’ and feelin’ it! Today was all about cozy knits, perfect coffee (thanks @ourcoffeerush!), and nothin’ but comfy vibes here at home. Sometimes simple is best – especially when that m...
Here we go...
“There. That’s the one,” I murmur, voice barely louder than the soft clink of ice in the glass sitting on the side table - gin, probably London Dry. It has been for years. A quiet consistency, which is perhaps why you didn’t notice it much then, not at first. Now… well, now you're back. Looking almost startled to find us here, really. Like we were always meant to be found, but maybe weren’t entirely sure ourselves.”
The scarf is a bit too warm around the neck, naturally. Always the scarf. Wool, of course, hand knit by Mother - she never quite got the woolling right, ever so slighty scratchy, comforting all the same. Feels familiar, doesn’t it? This room does. The light through the French doors, dappled with leaves from the chestnut tree outside, perfectly captures the dust motes dancing in the afternoon sun. Noted that, haven't noticed them in ages."
A small smile plays at the corner of our lips, a flicker behind the stillness. "You look tired, you know. Good tired, though. Not the exhausting kind where you forgot to pack your shoes last week – more like the weariness of carrying around memories for far too long. We used to do that, didn’t we? Remember when he asked about the garden? Before everything shifted. Didn’t dare disagree, did you?”
Our gaze drifts towards the fireplace, catching yours briefly. A little hesitant today, less certain than that time. “Didn’t think you’d even recognise the pattern on the rug underfoot, did you?”
We tilt our head slightly, a hint more openness in the eyes now. “Well, don’t stand there staring. Isn’t it obvious? Just a touch of warmth, a trace of expectation…and enough guilt to keep things interesting.”
Take a deep breath, then. Here goes nothing. Now, ask yourself – what was your favourite colour?”
