“Another glass for him then, most likely,” we say, don’t we? Not said aloud, not really. Just the slight tilt of the glass, always ever so gently tilted towards him, since... well, since then. This cashmere - feels good against the skin, doesn't it? A little comforting, tonight, anyway. Though sometimes itches a bit when things get too close to memory. These boots were a risk, weren't they? Dark brown, simple enough, but dark. Likeed the way he used to look at them, though. A hint of amusement mixed with something else entirely.

We haven’t spoken much all evening, you know. That's fine. It usually ends up like this, quiet. The room smells faintly of rain and his cologne, which was always a touch heady. And the fireplace has been crackling nicely, keeping the chill off. Or perhaps it’s just keeping out the memories, those flickering flames reflecting back everything we dared not name.
