Golden hour glow and perfectly tousled hair - feeling like this is just how it’s supposed to be! Cozying up tonight in my favorite sweater (bonus points for the cable knit) and letting all the worries...
The wool feels scratchy tonight, doesn’t it? Not that scratchy, not tonight. More…well, familiar. Like an old sweater you almost forgot you liked, but maybe didn’t quite trust to keep warm enough all those years ago. These boots - dark brown leather, worn down heels – they certainly remember. They remember the rain, mostly. And him, of course. Everyone remembers him.
It wasn’t his fault, really. Just a little too much light sometimes, blinding for everyone except the one who knew where the shadows were hiding. A bit of a mess, weren't we? A beautiful mess. We always said so, even when we didn’t entirely believe it.
Now there’s the scent of ink and dust, obviously yours. Always was a touch bookish, you. Though perhaps you've forgotten how to admit it. Or perhaps you haven’t, which is why you stand there, hesitant, a little wary of the way our fingers brushed back then – the way the candlelight caught in your hair. Such simple pleasure, such easily lost things.
We hadn’t expected this visit, had we? Certainly not after fifteen years of comfortable silences. Just the quiet rustle of the silk scarf around your neck—it smells faintly of woodsmoke—and us, standing here in this room filled with ghosts and memories.
That gaze of yours...a flicker of recognition, maybe a hint of guilt. Did he say something right? Before the argument, before the leaving, before everything shifted into shades of grey. It hasn'-t been that long, has it?
Just look closer. Let yourself see the trace of a smile playing about the corner of our lips. The memory isn’t painful yet. Not tonight. Now, go ahead. Take another breath. Breathe in the scent of time, breathe in the hope. And don't be afraid."
What do you think? How did we do? Let us know! 😊
Do you want more variation by, lets say, focusing on a particular detail in the image? For example, "Let's focus on her eyes!"
