Golden hour glow and a whole lot of cozy. That feeling when you’re wearing all your favorites and it just *feels* right. Maybe a little bit of rain outside doesn’t matter – we have candles and coffee!...
The wool feels scratchy tonight, doesn't it? Not unpleasant, not entirely - more...familiar resistance. Like memory itself. We hadn’t expected this, had we? Certainly didn’t expect to see you standing there, all shoulders and hesitant light, after nearly twenty years. The scarf was a little too much, maybe. A bit dramatic for such an unexpected encounter, but then again, life has been rather dramatic lately, hasn’t it? More so than one might admit.
Your father always said you liked a good shadow. And look, you’re perfectly willing to stand within ours, aren’t you? Perhaps even welcome it. That slight shift of weight, the way your hand rests near the edge of the armchair - almost daring us to notice. We haven’t noticed each other properly since… well, since the rain. Or perhaps that’s a lie, a comfortable, convenient lie.
There’s a smudge of wine on the glass by the fireplace, still warm if we’d only poured another round. Such small things, these quiet echoes. This particular gaze of yours, though - sharper than you think, isn’t it? As if you know exactly when we started doubting ourselves, when the silken thread began to fray.
It wasn’t your fault, of course. It never is. Just…a subtle drifting away, outwards, inwards, upwards, somewhere beyond reach. Which is why you hesitate to say anything, don't you? To break the quiet, the gentle hum of acceptance that’s kept us bothhere, mostly content, until now.
So, keep watching us. Keep seeing those shadows. Let the stillness settle. Almost makes you forget about the dust, doesn’,t it? Now, tell us, what were you thinking while you stood there, patiently waiting for us to acknowledge you?"
What did you think? Do you want us to refine it, or try another time with a different photo? Let us know! 🎉
(And of course, the beauty lies in the details - let us know which ones resonated most!)
