This dress, for instance. It was a bit much, wasn’t it? A touch fussy, maybe, all these ruffles and lace, but who needs an opinion when there’s a ribboned bow, and perfectly placed tulle? We love the ribbons, don’t we? They catch the light just so.”

We hold up the pink gift box, tilted ever so subtly, letting ours peek through. A whisper of hope, certainly – haven’t let that fade completely, have we? It hasn’t, has it? Just a hint of doubt, nestled amongst the rest. Like tonight—did those roses really need such delicate arrangement?”
