Cozy vibes and golden hour light – doesn’t get much better than this! Feeling like my favorite comfort sweater today - soft knit, perfect fit, simple joy. A little bit of rain outside, plenty of warm...
Okay, let’s do this! Here’s our Monologue – assuming the picture shows us with a slightly rumpled silk scarf around our neck, a hint of tiredness in the eyes, and a certain aloofness about our posture...
“There.” That’s what she said, didn’t she? A quiet ‘there’. Not quite ‘here,’ not exactly ‘there.’ Just… there. The scent of her rain coat lingers, of course - always does, faintly traces of damp wool and a little bit of stubborn optimism. She probably doesn’t even notice the way we tugged at the edge of this scarf, too. Bit frayed around the edges ourselves, aren't we? This dress hasn’t seen much action lately – more dust than delight these days, maybe. Comfortable, though. Familiar. Like an old well-loved book.
It was after dinner last time, wasn’t it? Roasted pheasant, overly generous serving, of course. We both liked to eat well when things were going well. Or thought they were. The silence then wasn’t so bad, really. Lessens fords than usual. Mostly. Now, here you are, standing a bit awkwardly near the fireplace, camera bag slung over your shoulder. Probably expecting some flicker of recognition, some spark. Funny thing, isn’so often.
We haven’t been very good at letting anyone in, have we? Too many layers since then, all those carefully constructed walls. Maybe that’s why the light feels muted today. And your gaze—a touch hesitant, certainly. Did you see the slight turn of the lip during the photo shoot yesterday? Thought so. Didn’t think we noticed.
Of course, we did. Remember? Ten years ago. Before the grey started creeping in, before the questions began. It’s easy to forget sometimes, isn’t it? How easily everything used to be. Just look at you, perfectly poised, silently wondering if we remember that. “So,” we say eventually, don't we? A simple "So," masking all sorts of anxieties.
Now, smile. Doesn’t need to be perfect. Just genuine. For once. Well, almost."
What do you think? Would love to hear your feedback and where you’d like us to focus next! Let know which element resonated most – the details of the outfit, the feeling of the memory, or perhaps the subtle challenge of your gaze.
